If you have been wearing contact lenses for a long time or just decided to put aside your boring glasses and opt for a pair of contact lenses, you might know about the blurry vision problem associated with them. Some people never experience this discomfort while some might encounter it more often than not whether they are wearing circle contact lenses or prescription lenses. Most of the times the reasons behind blurry vision are very minor and go away easily but sometimes they tend to cling and lead to serious vision problems. Blurry vision due to contact lenses is mostly experienced by patients suffering from astigmatism over 40 years or young people in their teens. The main reason behind this problem is usually poor hygiene that causes deposit buildup behind the contact lenses and leady to itchy eyes and blurred vision. Here are a few common reasons behind a blurry vision and how you can avoid them. Expired prescriptions: It is common in people that their eyesight naturally deteriorates as they age especially in people above 40 suffering from astigmatism. Another group of people that encounter this problem are teens as their vision degrades with age as well until they reach a certain age when the process stops. It is important to consult with your doctor and inform him about what kind of blurred vision you are having, is it just halos or rainbow lights. In the first case, the problem is pretty simple as your pupil expands to a size larger than the contact lens. In the later one, you might be facing a serious eyesight problem that can cause damage to your vision. In both cases, take off your contact lenses and contact your doctor immediately. Dry eyes: This is the most common cause of blurry vision and itchy eyes. The blinking process of the eyes is the natural way of eyes to produce tear films that keep our eyes hydrated and prevent them from drying up. When wearing contact lenses some people with sensitive eyes or wrong brand of contact lenses, this process is interrupted that lead to dry eyes and a blurry vision. Another reason is when you wear your contact lenses longer than their time frame. If you sleep in your contact lenses whether they are intended for extended periods, you are at a higher risk of getting blurry vision. Poor hygiene: It is important to keep in mind that eyes are probably the most delicate organ of the body and they require extra care. Contact lenses go straight on the eyes so it makes their care even more critical. Wash your hands adequately and dry them before putting on and off your contact lenses. As we are surrounded by impurities, it is very likely that dirt, dust, and other particles get stuck behind the contacts moreover protein buildup on the lenses is also a serious concern. That is why it is emphasized to properly clean your contact lenses after the use with an appropriate saline solution and store them in an airtight container. Dislodged contact lenses: Even the minor of causes like a dislodged contact lens can cause blurred vision. Sometimes when we rub our eyes vigorously or the eyes get extra dry or due to astigmatism, contact lenses either get stuck on the eye or behind the eyelid and move away from their proper place that can lead to blurred vision. This solution as simple as putting a few drops of the saline solution prescribed specifically for your eyes as then blinking for a few seconds and your troubles will be gone.
