Dealing With Long Beach Video Production What The Production House Wants You To Know |

When working with a Long Beach video production house, there are aspects of the partnership that may go over your head. This is especially true if it’s your first time working with a production company. Video producers aren’t as insensitive to these things as you may think they are. They can usually tell when someone’s used to navigating the tricky world of video production or if it’s their first foray into it. That being said, if you fall under the latter, there are some things you should know about working with a video production crew. If Your Video Doesn’t Go Viral, It’s Not Always Our Fault Yes, a well-produced video can draw more positive attention and engagement than a crappy one. Yes, some Long Beach video production houses will produce unusable results (especially if they don’t have much experience/talent or there was miscommunication somewhere down the line). Sometimes a failed video can be pinned solely on the production team. However, proper video production is actually a two-way street. Content Marketing Institute encourages marketers to invest in the production process, not just the product. That means planning, producing, positioning, and promoting your video to the right audience. We can help you take care of the first two—planning and producing. Positioning and promoting, on the other hand, falls squarely on you as a marketer (or on your marketing team). Even the world’s best video won’t reach the audience it needs to reach if it’s stuck on your website and not getting enough traffic directed towards it. If You Don’t Understand a Term, Tell Us Generally common terms like ‘post-production,’ ‘pre-production,’ and ‘storyboard’ are simple enough jargon that we can use in day-to-day conversations. However, there are lesser known production terms that may need a little explaining. The difference between a shot list and a B-roll, for example, or color grading and color correcting, or what we really mean when we say 4k. Believe it or not, we’re not throwing these terms around to confuse you. Itsindustry slang that is so frequently used, they slip into our vocabulary regardless of who we’re talking to. If we say something you don’t understand, don’t be afraid to stop us and ask for clarification. Don’t just nod and say “go ahead,” if we say we want to sweeten the audio and you don’t know what the heck we’re talking about. Communication is key for any harmonious relationship—working or otherwise. If you want to be more involved in the production process or you want to at least understand the different treatments and stages, let us know how we can help you. If Price Is Your Number One Concern, It Shouldn’t Be The problem with most companies is that they shop around for production houses and base their decisions mostly—or solely—on price. They have one production company offering $2,000 for their project and they have another one asking for $8,000 for the same project. Most—if not all—marketers will go for the $2,000. Remember that cheaper isn’t always better. If you’re paying this one-time investment for experience, talent, creativity, and top-notch technology, you might as well pay as much as you can. And we say one-time investment because it is what it is. You only have to pay $8,000 or $5,000 once, and the resulting video (plus copyrights) is yours indefinitely to do with as you wish. But again, price shouldn’t be your main concern, otherwise you won’t end up with a product you like. Long story short, video productionisn’t cheap, and pricing is a tricky area to navigate for those who know nothing at all. Certainly some Long Beach video production companies will charge a lot less than others. Others are very transparent with their pricing. Others have strict parameters and pricing matrixes that may or may not make sense to those who look at it. But if you’re focusing on price alone, you more often than not may end up with a totally unusable video. Focus instead on things like the script, conceptualization, message, and distribution. Those will yield better results by far.
