Gavin DeBecker discusses some of those intuitive experiences in a book he calls "The Gift of Fear." He talks about that our gut or that Fight or Flight feeling alerts us when danger is looming. If we follow through on these intuitions, we avert danger or keep safe in spite of adverse conditions. It is when we ignore those gut feelings that we have cause to feel regret.

For one thing, if you allow this person or company to go unpunished then you are, in a sense, helping him by not alerting others to what he or the company is doing. A friend was once texting while behind the wheel of his girlfriend's car. He pulled up to an intersection, glanced quickly up from his phone, looked back down to finish his text, and pulled forward. His distracted brain had failed to notice another driver at the intersection who had the right of way, and the two pulled away from their stop signs at the same time. The result? Like it or not, your business depends on a lot on how you publicly conduct yourself. You may have some very valid reasons for complaining about the things that you complain about. But perception is reality. If it seems that all you do is complain and that you seem to have nothing but bad experiences, folks are going to wonder if MAYBE a lot of it isn't YOUR fault. It may not be. But like I said, perception is reality.
