Avoid Deciding to Move to a New Office Space Without Consulting Your Employees |

As a boss, you make some of the toughest decisions at work. Even if you have unpopular ideas, you have no choice but to push ahead if they are practical solutions to the company’s problems. One of the significant decisions you might have to make is to move to a new office space.
You might decide to do so because you think that your company is growing, given the number of employees recently hired. You cannot fit all of them in a small space, and you need to be in another area to allow everyone to work comfortably. It could also be due to the need to be among the thriving businesses in the business centre of the city. Your current office might be too far from where everything is happening. You do not want people to continue seeing you as a small business. You want to try expanding your horizons and be among the top companies.
Before you conclude that moving to a new office space is the best solution, since your lease is about to expire, you need to consult your employees first. You need them to offer their opinion regarding the matter. They are integral to the success of your business. Out of respect, you need to ask them how they feel about your plans.
Some employees are not comfortable with moving You might have employees who decided to live near where your office is because it is convenient for them. They saw themselves working with the company in the long-term. It is unfair for you to suddenly decide to make them work in an area far from where they are. If all but a few employees are against moving, you need to provide options to those who find it inconvenient to move. You can adjust their time to start working. If they decide to resign, you can give them a bonus as a way of expressing gratitude for their service that did not have to end if not for the change in circumstances.
You are a team You started this business with a handful of employees. You started growing until you reached the number that you have now. You did not reach that stage alone. You worked with them until you hit milestones. You owe it to them to at least involve them in deciding if you are going to move. Even when you are in a new office space, you will remain a team, and you cannot let these changes adversely affect that.
Prepare to move If the team decides that it is best to move to a new space and you have found the perfect place, it is time to get ready. Give your employees a clear timeline so they will know when to finish packing. Give them responsibilities if there are certain items and supplies that they need to pack. You also cannot forget to hire end of tenancy cleaning London services. You need to return the place to how it was when you first rented it. Your contract might also indicate that it is your responsibility to do so. You are now ready to face a new chapter of your life in a new office.
