Celebrating Diwali while away at College!! |

Diwali has always been a special moment. My home is full of the odour of gulab jamuns (Indian sweets), the vibrant rangoli (abstract designs painted on the ground ) along with the gorgeous diyas (candles). It's a day I look forward to celebrating with all of my friends and family members. I have been celebrating Diwali away from home since I've entered best College in Pune. Many students, like me, might feel nostalgic about this moment. It's absolutely a significant change to go from large parties and spiritual festivals to ordering takeout Indian meals and making a makeshift aarti (Hindu type of worship) in my dorm room. I recall my very first Diwali I began to light diyas and my Diwali cleaning a week earlier. I used to join the aarti in the afternoon when my loved ones video-called me. I was able to celebrate Diwali with my family even though it wasn't exactly the home. This season for Diwali, I'm very excited for the festivities at DY Patil College Pune. On the weekend of Diwali, DY Patil College's Hindu Student Council will be hosting a Diwali puja (Hindu type of worship) and dinner, an event that they hold yearly.
Within my first year, DY Patil college was not conscious of the on-campus festivities but as my sophomore year, I have been attending. In addition to this, in our flat, my roommates and I'll be hosting our very own dinner and puja on the day of Diwali. Taking a twist we enjoy Diwali, motivating games, will be having a potluck dinner and lighting sparklers in our lawn. I'm excited about this since it enables my buddies and me to choose values and the customs we've learnt during our lives and to discuss them with other people. I'm lucky to have discovered a set of friends that feel like family with this day. I'm very fortunate to visit college. International pupil: Sanjana Kumar Although I'm Indian, I had been brought up since the community enlarged the parties got larger, and in Dubai. It became a day that I looked forward to annually. Leaving that feeling of familiarity and Diwali supporting in Dubai, I arrived into DY Patil college as a sophomore move. There are thousands of students DY Patil college that are anxious to leave their houses. Studying is hard enough, it becomes much tougher once you put in homesickness in. Within my first year DY Patil college I recall searching for my way through this exciting yet nerve-wracking college experience, while attempting to maintain my residence and civilization near. In November 2017I experienced my very first Diwali in DY Patil college. Unknown to the annual Diwali puja, a fellow of the college Hindu Council Indian pupils and I took it to observe the way. Ordering meals in bulk creating a temple with statues of several Hindu gods my mom sent around to me, placing on clothing, using fairy lights and singing a few prayer songs. It felt strange and distinct with faces to be celebrating Diwali far from your home and inside the boundaries of a dorm room. Nonetheless, it is what made the experience that much more unique. But as I understand I'll leave DY Patil University with innumerable fresh memories, and several of them between the unbelievable time I've spent re-inventing these ethnic and joyous adventures in an entirely new setting using a fresh and varied group of individuals. I am thankful that my university student bunch will host . I will take a few of my American and Indian buddies to an Indian restaurant for a Diwali dinner.
