How to create a new Rule for transaction?
When your company file have same transaction types from the same customer and vendor. You just need to create a department for every transactions so that QuickBooks can easily split up that category.
If you are accessing it with a browser
- Click on Settings tab and then click on Rules.
- Click on Create Rule.
- In the Description field, type the name of the customer or vendor for whom you want to create the rule. Choose to check the Match exactly checkbox so that QuickBooks could only use the rule when transaction gets reconciled.
- In the Account drop-down menu, choose the account into which you want to put the transactions.
- In the Type dropdown menu, click on Business, Personal, or Split.
- If you want QuickBooks to split up the transactions, choose the Category link and select any category.
- If you are thinking to apply the rule to transactions which you have already categorized into click on to check the Also apply to past transactions checkbox.
- Once you have applied the rule, click on Save and Close

To Edit or Delete a Bank Rule
If you are thinking to delete the rule, then make sure you will no more be able to modify any of the earlier created transactions.
- Click on Settings tab
- Choose Rules
- Search for the rule and then click on Edit
- Modify all the changes and then click on Save
To delete a specified rule, click on Edit button and then choose Delete
Click on Yes to confirm the transactions.
