The Lemosho route to Kilimanjaro promises breathtaking scenic trails. It offers a wonderful choice for scenery loving mountain climbers. The route has beautiful panoramic views from different sides of the mountain providing the most spectacular mountain climbing experiences for you. The Kilimanjaro Lemosho route is considered as a relatively new route that has the best of both worlds when thinking of the scenery and a low number of crowds. With the beautiful view and a high summit accounting for the success rate of the Lemosho route, you are bound to experience more than your money’s worth investing on this trip. The Lemosho route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west side. The journey begins from Moshi, where you take a long relaxing drive from Moshi to the Londorossi Gate. A relatively flat hike from there crosses the Shira Plateau. This part of the walk is enjoyable moving from west to east and enables you to get familiar with the trekking whilst conditioning your body for the climb ahead. The crowds are comparatively small in this part of the Lemosho route until you hit the Machame route situated near Lava tower. From there, you take the Southern Circuit route which traverses the Southern Ice field of the Kilimanjaro trek on the Lemosho route. Next, you will reach the summit of Barafu which is a great sightseeing spot on the Lemosho route. From there, you will start descending the mountain via the Movenka route. The total distance of the route differs according to the number of days you are planning to spend on the Kilimanjaro Lemosho trek. The minimum number of days required to cover the course is six. The 6-day route spans 37.9 miles. If you are willing to go on a 7-day journey, you will cover 38.5 miles. The ideal number of days for hiking Kilimanjaro climb on the Lemosho route is eight. An 8-day trip includes a distance of 42.3 miles. Lemosho route 6-daysThe 6-day Lemosho route is somewhat challenging and is more suited for experienced hikers. That’s because the course starts at 3,500 meters which is high altitude and trekkers who do not have high altitude trekking experience will have a hard time on the route. The trek starts from Lemosho Glades on the first day and moves up 3,900 meters to Shira camp. Most inexperienced trekkers get altitude sickness because their bodies do not have enough time to acclimatise to the high altitudes. It is a major negative point for the 6-day trek. If you are not an experienced high-altitude trekker, it is best to go for a 7 or 8-day route. Lemosho Route 7 daysIt is a better option for most hikers because they have an extra day to get acclimatised for the climb. The first day you will travel at the same altitude from Lemosho glades to Shira camp. It gives climbers a whole day to get accustomed to the height and ensures smooth acclimatisation. Once you are properly seasoned, you are ready to continue the next part of the trek which goes up to Shira 2 camp. The Lemosho route 7 days trek is best if you are a first timer of the route. Lemosho route 8 daysThe ideal schedule for the Lemosho variation is 8 days. Here the trek from Barranco to Barafu is broken down into two whole days of the route. It allows a short day before attempting the summit enabling you to rest up and tackle the hard part of the journey refreshed. The summit day begins very early, usually around midnight. It means that you should have a proper rest. One reason for failing to climb the summit is, climbers are sleep deprived when they start the toughest part of the journey. Having a short rest on the previous day will make sure you are adequately rested for the climb ahead. The most recommended route for hikers is the Lemosho route 8 day trek because it offers a chance to get accustomed to the high altitude and rest up before climbing the summit. Most of the prominent Kilimanjaro operators work with the 8-day route. Success Rate of Lemosho RouteThe route offers a chance for hikers to get acclimatised even though it starts at a high altitude. The route offers an excellent high climb and low profile sleep. The success rates for the route are very high. There is a 95% success rate for the 8-day trip and around 90% success rate for the 7-day trip. The somewhat challenging 6-day trip has a success rate of approximately 85%.
