The loss of a pet is as devastating as losing a loved one. You were too close to your dog, and you may have done everything possible to prevent the loss. However, death is beyond human control. You feel lost without your dog because you would talk to him every day. He would listen to your worries and love you unconditionally. He was very fond of you, and with them, all your burdens seem lighter. To ease this difficult time for you, we have put together a list of pet memorials to help you honor your dog
1. Ornaments Request to have jewelry with your dog’s image engraved on it. Go through photos of your dog and choose the best one you would like to have displayed. Most cremation providers provide this service and can produce a colored image for more visibility. Use this image as a pendant for your neck or on the urn. 2. Plant a tree Plant a beautiful plant or tree next to your window. As this tree grows, it will be a wonderful reminder of your beloved dog. Every morning when you see your tree, it will remind of the good times that you shared together. As the tree grows to defy the harsh weather conditions in your area, it will remind you of your dog’s unwavering friendship through the years. 3. Beautiful mantle piece A well-mounted piece of art in your living room is also an excellent idea. Choose one of the best photos from the family album. Visit a professional to help you with the artwork. You can choose a piece of glass, wood or a precious stone. Ensure it is enlarged to capture the details. With the portrait ready, select a strategic place in your living room and place it there. Make sure the picture does not compete for attention with other decorations. Ensure it stands out. 4. Writing Writing is an excellent way to ease the pain. You can choose a book or just articles about your dog. It does not have to be too formal. You can put the rules aside and let the pen glide on. The objective here is to vent and ease your pain. As you write about the beautiful journey with your dog, the agony will ease. Anytime you miss your dog or wish to talk to him, take your pen and let the conversation continue. 5. Charity Choose to get involved in a philanthropic activity in your neighborhood. You can decide to visit a children’s home or volunteer at a pet shelter on the day your dog has passed on. Spend time with the less fortunate. Donate clothes, food or choose to spend quality time with orphans and offer mentorship. By doing so, you will be giving back to the community as well as memorializing your dog in a humane way. 6. Cemetery You can choose to visit the cemetery every once in awhile with flowers or items that symbolize the times you shared with your beloved pet. The cemetery will help you remember the beautiful moments you shared with your dog, and it will keep you connected. 7. Memorial Cup Visit a gift shop or memorials for dogs center with your dog’s image. Request for a painting or collage on a cup of your choice with your dog’s image on it. You can choose non-breakable material for durability. Anytime you’re down, check out the cup and lighten up your spirit. Well, it may not be like the old times when you could enjoy long walks with your dog,but the pain will ease. Have you suffered a pet loss? What did you do to remember your pet?
