Hiking Checklist of 2017: Special Guide For Beginners |
Posted: July 31, 2017 |
If you're a newbie hiker or about to hit the trails for the first time, then you need to keep a couple of things in your mind. The first time I went on hiking, I had to face a lot of obstacles because I wasn't prepared. I was prepared for hiking but not for the technical aspects. I've had a good time there, but overall it was tough. So, if this is your first time or you made a mistake last time, then this article will be helpful for you. Hiking is my hobby and love being outdoor, so I've gained a lot of knowledge in this regard. I'll mention few basic things that are must for your hiking trip. Now, this checklist is going to be basic, and I'll try to keep it simple. Remember, things vary person to person like where you're hiking, your experience and knowledge and a lot of other factors. This hiking checklist will be very basic but believe me; it's all you need to differentiate yourself from fine line between a good hiker and a bad hiker. 1. Backpacking Backpacking is where even experienced hikers mess up sometimes. When you're packing you think that's just 1 ounce, add it. But, every single ounce matters when you are talking about carrying a backpack on trails. These ounces are plausible and then make your backpack super heavy. What even worst is that you end up not using such things. So, always try to be as precise as possible. Bring the food which is calories and nutrition rich but also compact in size like fry fruit. You can check this article written by me on my blog backpacking food ideas, and it will help you reduce significant weight from your backpack. 2. Hiking Companion Don't do the mistake of going alone for the hiking. Even experienced hikers have at least one companion with them (exception is there). If you get injured somehow, then it will become a problem and will turn out to be a disaster. In the wilderness, the infection spreads fast because of the environment. Apart from that, it's really boring to go alone. If you don't want to go with a human then hiking dogs can be a good companion. So, if you have a hiking bread dog, then you should definitely try it out. Check my article to see best hiking dog breeds. 3. Hiking Gears Hiking can is little expensive, let's face it. You need special gears to make sure you have the best every experience every time you hit the trails. And, these gears are necessary so there is now way you can miss them. Get yourself hiking boots, hiking socks. You can find my best hiking boots list on skill survivalist. If you will be hiking in mad hot conditions, then water is necessary otherwise you'll be dehydrated so make sure you take at least a water bottle with you. I personally prefer hydration bladders because the water remains cold and I'm able to carry it easily and can take a sip while hiking without having to make any extra efforts. The other necessary gears are sleeping gear, cooking utensils, clothing gear and navigation gear (I also use hiking apps for navigation) 4. Start Early The one mistake a lot of people do is not waking up early in the morning. The best time to hike and enjoy is at the early time of the morning. I start to hike between 4 and 6'O clock. Yeah, this is not the best choice for cold weather I really don't recommend it. 5. Know Your Essentials Like I mentioned in the first point, Don't over pack. Better take less with you but don't overweight the bag. These are some hiking tips and tricks that you need learn. If you're going in the extreme wilderness, then a flashlight is a must. If you're staying overnight especially in the hot & muddy area, then skin protector is must both from mosquitoes and sun rays. Firestarter is also must if you're staying overnight. Fire is the very first thing everybody needs. It gives you boost, helps to cook food, frightens wild animals.
