Brazil sugarcane industry group UNICA reduced its 2011-12 forecast for ethanol output in the nation's primary center-south producing area to 21 billion liters, a cut of more than 17% from 2010, because of unsatisfactory sugarcane crushing figures, UNICA said Thursday.
Complete sugarcane output was modified to 510 million mt in 2011-12, down 4.4% from UNICA's March projection and also down more than 8% from 2010-11 levels, the team stated in a declaration.
UNICA's downward improvement came as the top quality of crops continued to intensify, owing to frost at some producing states in Brazil and the flowering of walking stick, which affected returns.
dtpmp gathered in July showed that ... productivity at walking cane areas endured greater than we had actually first anticipated," UNICA technological supervisor Antonio Padua Rodrigues stated.
The complete recoverable sugar from crops, or TRS, has fallen by virtually 16% year-on-year, UNICA claimed.
From April 1 through August 1, ethanol result in Brazil's center-south totaled up to 10.5 billion liters, a drop of 19% contrasted to 2010.
Manufacturers of the cane-based biofuel continued to focus on anhydrous ethanol-- which is utilized for necessary blending right into gas-- in an attempt to discourage the government to decrease the current ethanol mix to 18% from 25%.
Output of anhydrous ethanol was up 16% year-on-year to 3.85 billion litres, UNICA stated.
Exports of ethanol dropped in comparison with 2010 as the nationwide sector continued to prioritize the residential market.
UNICA tasks 2011-12 exports to drop 23% from the year previously, to just over 1.3 billion litres, it claimed. "The large part of exports are because of business done last year which needed to be met during this harvest," Rodrigues claimed.
The projection launched Thursday backs up market specialists' assumptions that Brazil will certainly see a repeat of huge ethanol imports during the interharvest period, from December 2011 to April 2012.
At the beginning of the year, Brazil was required to import around 450 million litres of ethanol to avoid a shortage of the fuel at the pump.
