How many times have you wished you had more time in the day to get everything done? There are many different techniques and tricks people use to try and get the most out of their time. To increase productivity levels try implementing any of the below techniques
Plan Tomorrow Before Bed A colleague pointed out to me that he was never used his daily planner properly until he started reviewing it every night before going to bed. By doing this he found he was more prepared for the tasks he had ahead of him and he found he was using his daily planner a lot more. To encourage preparedness and regular use of the planner, set a time in the evening to review your plans for tomorrow.
Mindfulness Daily Anything worth doing takes time, including mindfulness. Mindfulness can be an effective tool in de-stressing, increasing concentration and boosting mental health, but it takes consistency and needs to be practiced on a regular basis. Mindfulness simply means enjoying each and every moment to the fullest and focussing only on what is happening around you. Try it; You’ll be surprised at how much of a difference it can make to your happiness and productivity!
Realistic Time Limits It’s important if you are to prevent procrastinating that you are able to identify it. By setting realistic time limits with tasks, you’re positioning yourself to be more conscience of your time and making sure that time is being used efficiently. If a report you are writing is estimated to take two hours to finish, then make a note of the time you start and aim to finish within that estimate.
Don't Overbook It's best to avoid booking meetings, lunch dates or other arrangements back to back, without giving yourself a break in-between them. Remember to prioritize yourself when scheduling. Book time for things that you personally find important. If you’re burning the candle at both ends, eventually you’ll burn out and productivity will fall.
Declutter Workspace A clean workspace is a massive aid in increasing productivity. Having items cluttered on top of each other and buried in random areas can make even simple tasks seem huge and daunting before they’ve even begun. By cleaning out your space regularly, you’ll get rid of distractions and find your productivity increasing.
Set Milestones and Rewards I love milestones and find they’re a great tool for productivity. Why not ‘goals’? For me, goals are more for big things and projects that’ll take a long time whereas milestones are for smaller achievements. Whatever term you prefer, though, by setting small, reachable and recordable milestones for yourself, you’re giving yourself clear targets to reach for that can be celebrated once reached. Don’t forget to reward yourself. People tend to be more productive when they know there will be a reward at the end of a task.
Nobody’s Perfect Remember, you can't be perfect. There is always room for improvement and growth, but don’t obsess over getting it right all the time. It’s better to acknowledge and learn from mistakes than it is to dwell on them. If you can learn from mistakes and repeat them, you’ll also become more productive.
As you can see there are many ways to be more productive in your day to day life. By utilizing any of the above tricks, you’ll find that your productivity improves in no time at all. So, don’t wait, start becoming a be a more productive person today.
