Baby Gates For Child Safety Gate With Stairs |

There are so many potential dangers around the home for a baby who is just starting to become mobile, and stairs can be a potential life threatening hazard which can be avoided by the addition of baby gates at the top or the bottom of the staircase. Clearly, the purpose is to prevent access for your little one, whether that be from the top, where they can fall down, or even from the bottom, where they can also have a fall after climbing up. Any new parent is acutely aware that they need to make provision around the home to keep their little one safe, and this becomes even more critical once they start to crawl and explore their surroundings. While there are many considerations with baby barriers, there are some extra things to think about when you are using them to prevent access to stairs. Whether you block off the top or the bottom of the stairs or even both will depend primarily on where you will be allowing your baby to move around, upstairs or downstairs. Obviously, if you want your baby to be able to crawl or walk in the downstairs area, you will want to place the gate at the bottom, preventing them from climbing and falling back down the stairs. You may also have other stairs leading down to another level, and obviously, in that case, you will need one at the top. Keep in mind also, that even when a door is closing off the stair entrance, it is always a good idea to have a barrier as well, just in case someone accidentally leaves the door open and a 'quick-moving' little one comes to grief before you realize what's happened. You can never be too careful, and stairs are especially challenging depending on what walls or frames are available for attaching the supports. It is well to be sure that the fixtures are adequately and securely fixed because you would not want them to work their way loose, should a child put their weight against the gate. Another thing to think about with a toddler, is you want to be sure they cannot climb over the top of the barrier, so consider that when you making your purchase. There are some gates which are higher than average and this might be best for you. Of course with the access latch, it is always a good idea to make sure that it closes easily, so as it cannot be left open or not properly shut when an adult passes through. The softer style barriers are not as suitable for staircases because of the extra risk in them giving away enough for the child to fall through, however, it depends on a lot of how they are put together and what sort of strength is in their frame. It will be just a matter of choosing which one is going to suit you and your home as well as being the safest for your child. A baby gate for stairs of any height or number is imperative for keeping your kids safe. Child safety is number one. Safety gates can be top of stairs baby gates or bottom of stairs and can come with a banister. Evenflo makes excellent retractable toddler gates and is one of the best companies around.
