We all know what a phobia is. An exaggerated and unjustified fear of things, situations, ideas or animals that can generate anxiety. In fact, it is not difficult that we suffer some, according to the Society of Psychiatry 6% of the population will suffer one throughout his life. What would be weird is that we suffer any of these. Fear of beauty? To the colors? To stand? Do you feel fear when you are facing a very attractive and beautiful woman? Are you afraid of gorgeous women? Do you usually reject this type of women? If any or all of the answers are affirmative, pay attention, you may be suffering from Venustraphobia, also known as Caliginephobia. venustraphobia is an irrational fear of beautiful women that causes men sweating, chills, tachycardia or stuttering. Venustraphobes are characterized by living anguished by a persistent and unjustified feeling of apprehension. In principle, it is difficult for them to maintain a relationship with a girl they consider beautiful, since, although they feel their charm, they will tend to avoid it. As in other obsessive aversions, the cause of venustraphobia can be found in a traumatic experience. The affected could live, for example, a situation of rejection in which he felt humiliated by a female bet. This can lead him to generalize his experience, associate beauty with risky situations and reject similar circumstances so as not to fail again. There can also be a combination of factors, such as shyness, low self-esteem and machismo, which propitiate the appearance of these sensations, which can lead to misogynistic behavior. The article is based on a phobia that we can say is common but little known in itself that irrational fear of ugliness wich is basically the irrational fear of beautiful women, many times we think how this could be true. What we do not know is that they were uncontrollable fears that over time become what we call phobias in this case we can say that they were men who at some stage of their lives lived traumas or simply fear when talking or approaching very beautiful women or live distressing moments with them. While it is common for a man to feel intimidated by an attractive woman, venustraphobia goes beyond mere shyness. It includes symptoms such as anxiety and panic attacks, which result in a dry mouth, difficulty breathing, muscle tension and hyperventilation, among others. It is one of the most unusual phobias and often becomes confused with gynophobia, or the general fear of women, and misogyny, which is a disdain for women. It is believed that one of the main causes of this phobia are past experiences with women. Those who have experienced failure and rejection when dealing with beautiful women can develop venustraphobia. It affects mostly men, although it can also suffer both sexes. Other factors involved in the fear of women are hereditary predisposition and low self-esteem. Those who consider themselves unattractive tend to feel more vulnerable to the presence of beautiful women. Like any other phobia, it can be treated with psychological therapies.
