Comfort in Cooling Memory Foam Mattress Before the release of memory foam mattress to the public in the 1980s it was used to cushion airplane seats. It was developed in the 1960s by NASA to improve safety in their aircrafts. The foam is made up of a cell structure that has temperature sensitive and heat retaining properties. It is the kind of mattress that lets you sink into it and it molds around a warm body in a few minutes. It softens in reaction to body heat. Within the few years of production the memory foam has passed through changes to better its structure and longevity. A memory foam mattress is denser than any other mattress. There are added ingredients such as aloe Vera, green tea extract and activated charcoal which are a source of aromatherapy and reduce odors. There are different uses of the memory foam mattresses; Medical uses, Domestic uses and Safety uses and even commercial uses. Under medical uses the memory foam mattress is used as a wheelchair cushion. This is very essential for comfort. A person that is seated all through needs as much comfort as there is to offer. The memory foam mattress provides this. The memory foam mattress is also used in hospital beds and pillows. The patients need comfort for they may be lying in one position for long hours. This comfort prevents sores or blood pressure. Under Domestic uses, it is used for pillows, mattresses, shoes and seat cushions. It is believed to cure apnea and aches while used at home. They are used in bath matts e.g. Lacoste homes soft bath rug. Some shoe companies like sketchers and Nike are adding memory foam to their insoles for pressure relief. Most of these shoes are worn by athletes and they also need comfort while exercising. It is used as an alternative to custom-fit bras because memory foam is cheaper and conforms to the shape of your chest. Memory foam is used in headphones and bag straps for added shoulder and back comfort. This may be categorized as commercial use for they want to sell their product. Memory foam is also used to ensure safety while involving oneself in an activity. It is used in helmets, elbow guards, shin guards, knee caps etc. While memory foam is used as cushion in a helmet it takes up the work of a shock absorber and reduces impact to the head in case of a fall. There are many advantages of using a memory foam mattress. For one it supports back/spine alignment. This is because it supports each part of the body evenly and individually by spreading your weight across the bed’s surface. This allows your spine to stay in a neutral position. The mattress maintains body temperature while you sleep. It is perfectly able to keep you cool when it is warmer outside and warmer when it is cool outside. This is why it is often referred to as a cooling memory foam mattress. Polyurethane is a major component of this mattress that protects it from various debris and dirt. It is also anti allergenic. Allergy sufferers can feel free to use the product. Everything comes with flaw. Due to its flexible nature it fails to provide a firm support. This is not ideal for people who prefer firmness in their mattresses. A pure foam mattress may keep sinking down to the bottom sometimes this is an unpleasant experience. Memory foam mattresses may have slight flaws but this shouldn’t be a big issue. If you are looking for great comfort and luxury, memory foam will give you more than a decent sleep experience. Its price might be higher than the average mattress’s but it is worth it in every way.
