Excavators like HITACHI - ZX200-5B have not been unaffected by this evolution in the set of machines, becoming the icon of public works and mining machinery par excellence. The decades of the 20s, 30s and 40s of the last century were those of the takeoff of this equipment, now considered essential, which since then have not ceased to develop and specialize, emerging over time with models of different physiognomies and multiple applications: chains, caterpillars, mini-excavators, draglines, drills, electrics, mining, even amphibians, etc. The decade of the 70s being that of its definitive consecration as there was a clear movement in favor of the leading role of the operator and its comfort in the design of the equipment. And a movement that would have an important gap in history: gigantism.
Liebherr R9800
The Liebherr R9800 is ranked third in this ranking of the ten largest equipment in the world for machinery. In production by the Liebherr Company since 2008 at its factory in Colmar (France), the excavator is available with front bucket equipment, reaching a total weight of 810 tons, or with backhoe equipment, with a weight of 800 tons. The excavator HITACHI - ZX200-5B has a cabin height of 9.91 m, a chassis length of 10.84 m and a capacity of both the retro bucket and the front shovel of 42 m³. It has an arm advance force and a maximum bucket breakout force of 3090 kN and 2395 kN, respectively, while the starting and digging forces in backhoe operation reach 1760 kN and 1980 kN, respectively. In addition, the Liebherr R9800 can be equipped with two 16-cylinder Cummins QSK60 diesel engines, producing 4,000 HP of power at 1,800 rpm, or two 12-cylinder MTU diesel engines, generating 3,820 HP at 1,800 rpm.
Demag-Komatsu H740
In 1996 the Demag-Komatsu joint venture was established, which in 1999 would be renamed Komatsu Mining Germany. Its largest machine, the H740 OS, has an operating weight of 744 tons. It is the fourth largest excavator in the world, in service since 1999, which was specially designed to operate with abrasive oil sands on KMC Mining farms in Canada. It is a front bucket excavator with a body and wider tracks than its predecessors, having a bucket load capacity of 40 m³ and a breakout force of 2320 kN. Its latest version incorporates two 16-cylinder Cat 3516B diesel engines, which produce up to 3,280 hp at 1,800 rpm.
Komatsu PC8000 the Komatsu PC8000-6
Has an operating weight of up to 710 tons, making it the fifth largest excavator in the world. Available with a backhoe and front bucket accessories, it has a track length and width of 10.51 m and 8.15 m, respectively, with a bucket volume of 42 m³. The arm advance force and the bucket digging force are 1765 kN and 1961 kN, respectively, having a maximum reach of the bucket at the ground level of 19.37 m and a maximum digging depth of 8.4 meters. The HITACHI - ZX200-5B (7) series models incorporate two-cylinder diesel engines, with power reaching 4020 hp at 1800 rpm is available at Estec.
