Color balance adjustment layer This technique works well for removing tint. Use the adjustment layer as it is non destructive. I always use this option for correcting color. I have the habit to make a duplicate layer of the background before applying the balance adjustment layer. This option is not an inevitable since you use the adjustment layer. To make a duplicate layer, click on the duplicate layer icon. You can use the shortcut option Ctrl+ j for making a duplicate layer. Then, turn the background visibility off by clicking on the visibility eye.
Now, select the top layer and choose the color balance adjustment layer in the adjustment layer. Then you can see the properties box like the below screenshot. From the properties, choose the slider that has the tint color and move the slider to cyan for removing the tint color. You can also use the other two sliders for getting the color you desired. After having completed the adjustment, close this by clicking on the double arrow icon. Now, you can see the adjustment layer in the layer panel. You can also go back in the adjustment layer by simply clicking on this layer thumbnail. #2. Use the curves adjustment layer You can also use the curves for doing color correction. Make a duplicate layer of the background by following the same option as I described on the first tips. Now, choose the curves adjustment layer from the adjustment layer panel. Click on the curves adjustment layer for applying it. Now, you can see the curves properties like the below screenshot. Notice the dropdown menu next to the RGB channel. You can change all the channels at one time. You can also change the individual channel. Select the channel according to the image tint. Now, play with the curves until you will get the desired color you want. #3. Increase Contrast This technique works well for the images which need to pop a little more. In this step, I am going to use the levels adjustment layer for increasing the contrast. At the end of using this technique, we will get white whites and black blacks as a result. Now, it’s time to choose the levels adjustment layer. So, select it from the adjustment layer. Before select this, make sure you have the duplicate layer of the background. You can see a histogram same to the below screenshot. This histogram shows the data that doesn’t spread left or right at all. Instead, the data shows the darker tones very closer to a pure black than the pure white lights. For giving more tones, adjust the slider to right. Play with the slider until you get the best output. #4. Makes color pop This technique is useful if the image background color is gray. By following this technique, you can make the dark area darker and whiten the white area. Make a duplicate layer of the background and keep the background visibility on.
